Short-range SAM + gun — point defence

Combined gun/missile system for point defence — the innermost layer of the IADS. Protects high-value assets such as S-400/S-500 sites, C2 nodes and airfields against PGMs, cruise missiles and drones. In Ukraine it has become indispensable as an anti-drone weapon, but is itself regularly destroyed. Fire-on-the-move capable; very short reaction time.

New subvariants
Pantsir-S1M (mobile) and Pantsir-SMD (static, gunless) reported — both still fire the standard 57E6-E; source: Defense Express
Pantsir-SMD-E with Gvozd mini-missiles
According to HUR (Sep. 2026), a Pantsir-SMD-E was spotted this year that uses small TKB-1055 Gvozd anti-drone missiles instead of guns — an addition to the gunless SMD above — source: HUR via Ukrainska Pravda, RU Mil Tracker e-20261001-09
95Ya6 missile and production chain
HUR calls the 95Ya6 the primary medium-range missile of the various Pantsir variants and (Sep. 2026) published 23 Russian companies in its production chain, with KBP (Shipunov) as lead developer and manufacturer; about a third are not sanctioned by any coalition member — source: Ukrainska Pravda/HUR, RU Mil Tracker e-20261001-09
New deployment around Moscow
OSINT satellite analysis (~Jul. 2026) shows ~24 newly built Pantsir towers around Moscow, forming a defensive ring with a ≈40 km radius — source: Militarnyi, RU Mil Tracker e-20260728-05
Tower emplacement hit (Oct. 2026)
The SBU's Alpha unit showed (10 Oct. 2026) a drone destroying a Pantsir on top of one of these elevated anti-drone towers ('Flakturm'). The tower gives the radar a view over trees and terrain, but leaves the system immobile and therefore a target that can be planned in advance; location, date and variant were not disclosed. SBU head Malyuk claimed in late 2025 that 48% of Russia's Pantsirs had been destroyed that year, against production of ≈30 per year — source: Defence Blog, RU Mil Tracker e-20261011-03; Ukrainian claim, not independently verified
