QW-1 family
Chinese man-portable air-defence missile, second generation
Second Chinese MANPADS generation from CASIC (Liuzhou Changhong), developed from the HN-5 with a configuration derived from the Igla-1 (SA-16). Its ammonia-cooled InSb seeker works in two colours and has IR counter-countermeasures. The QW-1M is modernised; the QW-11 (QW-1G, 2006) adds a proximity fuze against smaller targets such as cruise missiles. Basis of the Iranian Misagh-1/-2 and the Pakistani Anza Mk-II; the QW-1M has been seen with Kata'ib Hezbollah in Iraq.
