Supersonic anti-ship missile, used from Crimea against ground targets

Supersonic ramjet anti-ship cruise missile (export name Yakhont, precursor of BrahMos), fired from the mobile Bastion-P coastal battery and from ships and submarines with universal 3S14 launch cells. It flies at high altitude to the target area and then comes in low over water or terrain at ≈ Mach 2–2.5. Since 2022 Russia has used it mainly from Crimea against ground targets in southern Ukraine — ports and infrastructure in Odesa and Mykolaiv — where the short flight time leaves little warning. It can be intercepted: Ukraine's Air Force reported several Oniks missiles shot down in August 2026 (including 24 and 27 Aug). The Bastion-P launchers in Crimea are targets of Ukrainian strikes; Defence Intelligence (HUR) claimed a hit launcher in August 2026. The same Bastion launchers also fire Zircon.
