Kozerog
Light, portable launcher for 122 mm Grad rockets
A light launcher ('Capricorn') for standard 122 mm Grad rockets from the Yekaterinburg company BRT, developed in 2023 and in series production shortly after. The base model is a single tube on a tripod; versions with up to 9 rails have been ordered and a 16-round package is being designed. Instead of a conspicuous BM-21 firing 40 rockets per salvo, infantry fire a single rocket from a trench, dug-in position or building and then leave — firepower traded for survivability against drones and counter-battery fire. According to the manufacturer (via RIA Novosti, Oct 2026), about 300 launchers of all variants have been delivered to combat units; other publications give lower numbers. Not a VKS weapon, but within ~20 km a threat to positions, drone teams and air defence close behind the front. All data come from a single Russian pro-war outlet (Topwar) and the manufacturer.

- Type
- Light single-tube launcher for unguided 122 mm rockets (Grad family)
- Manufacturer
- BRT, Yekaterinburg; first version 2023, then series production
- Variants
- Base model (1 tube, tripod); multi-tube versions up to 9 rails; 16-round package in design; Kozerog-1M with mount for the PG-1M panoramic sight; according to Topwar a version for 220 mm Uragan rockets in development
- Deliveries
- ≈ 300 launchers of all variants to combat units, incl. motor rifle units (manufacturer claim via RIA Novosti, Oct 2026)
Performance
- Weight
- ≈ 270 kg without ammunition (base model); length ≈ 2.5–3 m
- Laying
- Manual, ≈ 20° either side; can be mounted on wheels or a vehicle
- Max range
- ≈ 11 NM (≈ 20 km), depending on the 122 mm rocket
- Ammunition
- Full range of 122 mm Grad rockets; according to the developer also rounds that misfired in a full MLRS
Threat
- Effect
- Area fire with one or a few rockets from concealed positions, beyond the reach of most small drones
- Limitation
- Small ammunition load, dependent on external transport, no disclosed night/low-visibility capability; vulnerable to counter-battery fire and FPV drones once a fixed position is used for long
- Comparison
- The Soviet Grad-P 'Partizan' (9P132, 1960s) needed a shortened rocket with ≈ 11 km range; the Kozerog fires the standard round
- Threat level
- Medium — little firepower per launcher, but hard to find
